Reconstruction of School and Old City Hall, Bergstrasse 3, Horheim, Germany
Building specificationDue to unsound building structure, the city hall- and school building, dating from 1905, were renovated. To observe the present heat insulation ordinance, a new thermal insulation as well as a new baffle were put in-between the rafters. In addition, the facade was partly refurbished with a plastered heat insulating compound system.
Furthermore, the windows were renewed and a new gas heating system installed. To accent the significance of the building, vibrant colours were used. The existing murals on the facade, once realized by homeland artist U.C. Eipper and his pupils, were, after the new attachment of thermal insulation, reconstructed by an artist. On the inside, antique wainscots were relieved of old coatings. An attic was turned into a multipurpose room. New dormers, a visible roof construction and parquet flooring shape this high grade room.
